Who We Are
The FIRSTEP Summer Camp was created with one goal in mind: to lead younger students with interests in math, science and technology on their “FIRSTEP” toward learning more about these growing fields. This camp was first introduced in the summer of 2007 with the hope of extending knowledge to younger students to get them excited about the fun side of engineering…the hands on part.
From designing to building, our camp teaches students about Engineering through Technology, Math and Science. Your student will have so much fun while learning how the concepts they have studied in school apply to real life.
Meet the Founder
My name is George Giltner. I have two passions: technology and teaching. Just like most kids growing up, I was always curious about how things work. I enjoyed inventing things and taking things apart to see how they are made. I absolutely LOVED playing with Legos, Erector sets, and remote controlled cars. I studied Electrical Engineer at Purdue as well as Technology Education. As an educator I have enjoyed finding ways to engage students through hands on learning. I've developed a summer camp that allows students to explore their tech curiosity and have grown the program larger than I ever thought possible. Starting a youth summer camp where I can provide hands on learning of science and technology by showing the fun side of engineering has been my long term goal that has finally come true.
Please join me this summer as I share with your student how math, science, technology, and engineering can be so much fun!
